Thunder Thursday – National Sprints Gas City ’03

The balance between patience and impatience in a 30-lap rodeo is as thin as a razor’s edge. The driver behind the steering wheel who finds the synergy between himself and his machine can make the difference between running at the front or having the car taken off the track on a hook. In this USAC National Sprint Car event from May 30, 2003 at the Gas City (Ind.) I-69 Speedway, one driver found that balance, waiting for the race to come to him and made his move in the late stages of the race to take the feature victory, which would be a familiar act for this champion driver throughout the 2003 USAC season. -Richie Murray
